The Llogara National Park is one of the most beautiful places in Albania with woods, beautiful valleys, countless natural resources, as well as numerous species of plants, animals and birds.
Today’s hike leads you to Qafa e Thellë, a 1200 meter high mountain pass marking the transition between Llogara and Karaburun National Parks. From this hidden balcony, you’re treated to one of the most breathtaking views in southern Albania: the deep blue Ionian coastline unfolding below, and, on a clear day, even a silhouette of Italy shimmering across the horizon.

Your hike begins at the Llogara National Park info-point, diving immediately into the cool shade of a dense pine forest. The trail is gradual and soft underfoot, winding through old conifers and past wild herbs that scent the air. You’ll ascend steadily to the pass, where a dramatic clearing opens up to unforgettable vistas.
After a well-earned pause at the pass, you’ll return the same way, enjoying the serenity of the forested trail on the descent.

This trail starts and ends at the Llogara National Park. You have to drive to the starting point of the hike yourself. Free parking is available nearby.

While most hiking trails are signed, some markings may be unclear or difficult to see. Certain sections might not be well-marked, and poor weather can make navigation more challenging. Good navigation skills are necessary to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

Our tour descriptions give detailed information about terrain, technical difficulty, estimated activity times, ascent/descent in meters and distance in kilometres. We kindly ask you to read these very carefully and consider them while choosing your tour.

Estimated hiking times are given for each day. These times do vary according to the day’s weather conditions and your fitness levels. These times do not include times taken for meals and breaks. The hiking times are all calculated in accordance with the Albanian national standard for hiking trails, which is based on the Swiss Alpine Club adaptation of the DIN44366 standard.
