Located in the southeastern highlands of Albania, Guri i Kamjes is one of the most visually striking natural rock formations in the country. Towering dramatically at 1451 meters above sea level near the village of Dardhë in Pogradec, this natural monument rises like a vertical stone pillar, over 70 meters high. The formation sits amid a landscape of rolling hills and layered ridgelines, with panoramic views that stretch toward Lake Ohrid and the surrounding mountain ranges.
The hike begins from the village of Lekas, just south of the rock’s base, and gradually ascends through open terrain and cultivated terraces. The path is wide and easy to follow, with a gentle incline most of the way, making it accessible to casual hikers. As you approach Guri i Kamjes, the rock’s towering presence dominates the horizon, revealing its uniquely sculpted ridges. After a short final push, you’ll reach a plateau with sweeping views over the surrounding countryside, the valleys below, and the distant Lake Ohrid. The descent follows the same route back to the village.

Hiking Time, Grade and Technical Difficulty:
Our tour descriptions give detailed information about terrain, technical difficulty, estimated activity times, ascent/descent in meters and distance in kilometres. We kindly ask you to read these very carefully and consider them while choosing your tour.
The estimated difficulty of hikes is given in the SAC scale, starting from T1 to T6. These grades are guidelines that must always be used in conjunction with your own experience, intuition and careful judgment. Explanations for the difficulty scale can be found here.
Estimated hiking times are given for each day. These times do vary according to the day’s weather conditions and your fitness levels. These times do not include times taken for meals and breaks. The hiking times are all calculated in accordance with the Albanian national standard for hiking trails, which is based on the Swiss Alpine Club adaptation of the DIN44366 standard.
