Shpiragu Mountain rises just a few kilometers west of Berat and is known for its distinctive appearance: long ridges radiating outward like ribs from its central spine. Often overlooked by travelers, it offers some of the most commanding panoramic views in southern Albania. On clear days, the view extends from the Greek border in the south, to the peaks of Dajti and Deja in the north, and even across to the dramatic outlines of Gjirokastra and Përmet.
The hike begins in the village of Sinjë, located 20km from Berat. From here, a well-defined trail steadily ascends the mountain’s main ridgeline. The terrain is mostly open, offering wide-angle views early on and a sense of spaciousness as you gain elevation. As you approach the summit at 1198 meters, the landscape unfolds in all directions, a perfect spot to rest and take in the view.
After a break at the summit, you’ll descend via the same route, retracing your steps along the ridgeline back to the village. This hike is accessible for most hikers.

Hiking Time, Grade and Technical Difficulty:
Our tour descriptions give detailed information about terrain, technical difficulty, estimated activity times, ascent/descent in meters and distance in kilometres. We kindly ask you to read these very carefully and consider them while choosing your tour.
The estimated difficulty of hikes is given in the SAC scale, starting from T1 to T6. These grades are guidelines that must always be used in conjunction with your own experience, intuition and careful judgment. Explanations for the difficulty scale can be found here.
Estimated hiking times are given for each day. These times do vary according to the day’s weather conditions and your fitness levels. These times do not include times taken for meals and breaks. The hiking times are all calculated in accordance with the Albanian national standard for hiking trails, which is based on the Swiss Alpine Club adaptation of the DIN44366 standard.
