Transfer to Kruja
Pick up from a central location in Tirana. Kruja is dramatically perched 600 meters above sea level. Known for its association to Albania’s national hero Skanderbeg, Kruja played a central role in resisting the Ottomans and remains rich in cultural and historical heritage.
Guided walk through the Old Bazaar
Your guided visit starts in the old bazaar, a 400-year-old handicrafts market where artisans still preserve traditional crafts.
Visit of the Castle and the attractions inside it
We will continue to the hilltop Kruja Castle, originally built in the 6th – 7th centuries and later fortified by the Byzantines and Ottomans. The visits of the Historic and Ethnographic Museums offer further insight into the history of the area and traditional Albanian life.
Transfer to Durrës
After some free time for lunch or shopping in the bazaar, the journey continues to Durrës.
It is one of the oldest cities on the Adriatic coast. The city was founded in 627 BC and later became a Roman stronghold and the western starting point of the Via Egnatia, one of the most important roads of the Roman Empire connecting Rome with Constantinople.
Visit of the “Peeping Tourists” exhibition
It is a uniquely curated exhibition, which delves into communist-era tourism in Albania. Artefacts and archival footage explore how foreign travel was strictly regulated by the regime. A documentary and tasting session with traditional drinks and sweets wrap up the experience in an intimate setting.
Visit of the Roman Amphitheatre
It is built in the 2nd century and is notable for its hillside construction and central location in the city.
Visit of the Venetian Tower
The tour concludes at the Venetian Tower, part of the ancient fortress system.
