Today’s hike takes you southeast of Tirana. Throughout the walk, you’ll have broad views of the Erzeni River Valley far below and the hills surrounding your path. The area has long held historical importance, once a key corridor for Balkan trade routes, and you’ll see archaeological remains along the trail that point to this past. It’s a scenic hike with both natural and cultural interest.

The guide will pick you up for the short transfer to the village of Petrela, the starting point of the hike. The village is especially known for its castle, which is located on a sharp hill. Emperor Justinian reinforced this place to defend the settlement of Dyrrachium (Durres).

We will follow a disused gravel road that leads at first to the ancient settlement of Persqop, built in the 4th century BC. There, the ruins of the surrounding wall can be seen. The trail continues, to the vicinity of the small village of Durisht, from where starts ascending the mountain with the same name. Once on the top is time for a short break to take in the view and enjoy the breathtaking vistas. The descent follows in the direction of the monumental tomb of Persqop, and from there, back to Petrela, where our vehicle will be waiting for the transfer to Tirana.

This is a private tour. Pickup is available from your hotel or another address of your choice, provided it lies no more than 3 km from Tirana city centre. You will be dropped off at the same point when the tour ends.
