Guided visit of Kruja
Kruja is a historic town set on a panoramic mountain 600 meters above sea level. Once the center of the Illyrian tribe of the Albans and later the capital of the Principality of Arber, it holds a key place in Albanian history, particularly as the stronghold of national hero Skanderbeg. The city’s castle was originally built in the 6th–7th century and later restored by the Byzantines and Ottomans. East of the city rises Kruja Mountain, also known as Sari Salltik, named after a 13th-century dervish venerated by the Bektashi order. The mountain’s summit is often called the “Balcony of the Adriatic” for its far-reaching views, sometimes stretching as far as Montenegro on clear days.
We will visit the Historic Museum, and the Ethnographic Museum that lie inside the castle walls.
The visit of Kruja ends with a short walk along the 400-year-old handicrafts market, where you can buy your souvenir from Kruja.
