The day starts with the local transfer from Libohovë to the village of “Labova of the Cross”. The village takes the name from its Church, the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin, which is known as one of the most important Byzantine monuments of the entire Balkans. First built in the 6th century, and restored in the 10th, it has an interesting architecture, decoration and an extraordinary story. Until the end of 80s, a silver cross was preserved in the church. This very rare relic in the Byzantine world was believed to contain a piece of the True Cross, on which Jesus Christ was crucified.

The hike follows a clearly visible but not marked path, which mostly goes through meadows. It was part of the old pastoral trails used by the migrants travelling from Greece to the north.
Your hike ends at a local farm not far from the center of the town of Libohova, nestled at the foot of the Bureto Mountain.
After getting introduced to the hosts at the farm, you will have a traditional lunch. Of course, all ingredients come from the region and most of them have been grown in the garden right next to the house.

This tour starts and ends at a farm in the surroundings of Libohovë. You can get there by using a taxi or a private vehicle. You can use your own vehicle, rent one yourself or through us. We recommend a departure time of 09:00 AM. This way you will have time to visit the church of Labova of the Cross, perform the hike and be at the farm in time to have lunch.
